I have the 12 disc changer in my C5. It jammed up the other day, the disc holder would not eject, following advice on this forum I took the changer out of the car and removed the cover. There was a dick stuck in the position where it is played. I removed the disc, put it all back together and it all worked fine untill the last track of the CD I was playing ended and I guess it did not retract the disc again because I got the error message again. So I would think its the same as before, changer will not eject, will not play or change a disc.
When I say stuck I mean that the CD was in the proper place for playback, what happend is the tray that holds the CD failed to retrieve the disc when I tried to change to another disc.
Is there a way to fix this for good or do I just need to get a new CD changer?
make sure the magazine is free of dirt. Dirt can cause all kinds of havoc. IMO, I would not spend the money on a new changer, but simply get adapter for an MP3 device.
I was able to get the CD holder to eject. I took out all the trays and cleaned out the holder, It did not look very dirty but I did clean it up. Sprayed the player very gently with compressed air, put it all back together and so far it works fine.
Good idea on the MP3 set up. I have an iPod and do plan to get it set up for use in the C5. Most of my CDs are made from my iTunes anyway, no doubt this is the way to go.
