Sorry to bother with maybe an old question. I have an Eclipse 5435 I'm finally after a year, trying to install. I have been very confused after searching the Forum for the EXACT location of this... for me anyway Silver ECM where the Green/White VSS is. I was told its Under the battery, well I took the battery out, found gobs of plugs attached to inner fender, nothing looked like a ECM module. I then was told its under the battery support, so I took those three bolts out, NO ECM... So I'm dumbfounded r to where it is and what it looks like. What I thought maybe was the ECM was the Silver box under the passenger side next to the fuse box, anyway if someone could give me some help so I can stop driving my car around with no dash, seat, and carpet I would be most grateful ;-)
You need to jack up the passenger side of the car and remove the front wheel. Then remove the inner fender liner below the battery. The ECM is behind that panel. It is silver and the plugs are facing upwards.

I assume you are talking about a C5 based on your signature.
I use the VSS Green/White Stripe wire at the back of the instrument cluster. Much easier to get to and less guesswork. There are 2 Green/White Stripe wires on that connector - splice into the one closest and on the same side as the thick White and thick Light Green wires (see pic)
I think I may go with the Instrument cluster hook up, I just removed two bolts from the inner fender and saw the ECM! What a location!!! Looks like I may only have to remove the panel under the staring column to access the plug? Hope I can just get my body under the steering column to reach it? Thank you!!!!
