I have a navigation head unit from a friends 07 c6 and I was wondering if this will work in my base model 07 c6?
My only concern is that I don't think the base unit is a bose system. This is a problem in other lines that GM makes. They usually have both one for the bose and the non bose system.
If this will not work I am wondering if a Nav unit from a new Tahoe ( or previous years non-lux) w/o the bose system will work...
I look forward to my new ownership of my new 07 c6 Lemans Blue!
The wiring harness I think would plug in fine and I don't recall seeing anything in the harness that would make it Bose-specific, but since the NAV unit was designed for Bose-only I don't know that it would send out proper signals to the Delco amps to trigger them.
The NAV will DEFINITLEY not work. You don't get the GPS antenna installed at the factory unless you order NAV.
Considering the aggravation you'd have to go through to get the factory system to work and how much more flexible aftermarket systems are, my recommendation would be that if you want NAV go aftermarket.
You just need to get a non-lux. I'm pretty sure if you find someone at the dealership that is familiar with programming these, you can have it reprogramed to be a non-lux radio. You're going to have to get it programmed for you VIN anyway.
I was doing the same thing with my 2005 2500HD. I had a bose system, but just a 6 disc indash. I was going to go to navigation unit and if i remember, you can get either, but if its not the exact one it would need reprogrammed.
and as far as the antenna... you can get those too either from the dealership (which i wouldn't suggest) or the famous auction site
