Amp Questions - Dumb?

My main question is on the Phoenix Gold Octane-R 4.0:2 75W x 2, It says 250 watts RMS x 1 bridged output at 4 ohms, I understand what the 4 ohms are but what does the "bridged" mean, I am assuming it means it takes 2 sides (x 2) and makes them into one (x 1) and this would allow me to send 250 watts to the 10" woofer?
Thanks - amps are not my speciality..
Jason

By the time I buy the Pac adapter, woofer, amp, and box, then purchase a terminal extender along with some wiring, I have it roughly figured at 5 to 6 hundred dollars, but I really didnt want to spend that much, anyone have other alternatives that could save some money but still end up with a nice thump, I would be all ears...
Thanks
Jason
Ok ultra budget but still nice little setup here we go
Box from corvettecaraudio.com (125+shipping) or build your own (30ish)
Sub - MA Audio 10" nice little sub and killer price, i did 4 of these in a honda accord and WOW (http://sonicelectronix.com/item_2674.html) free shipping (50 bucks )
Amp - profile refub has 1 year warranty I use alot of these when ppl dont necessarily need cream of the crop, i ran one of the older models for 3 yrs never had a problem (http://profilecaraudio.com/amplifiers.htm) 400msx would be about (60 shipped)
Wiring - knukonceptz eko 8ga kit (high quality kit) (25 shipped)
Pac adapter - 55ish on ebay
Total is under 350 dollars
If you build your own box u could save 100 dollars or so. Otherwise an infinity basslink or bazooka bass tube could add some bass but you start to get close to the price or the outlined system about and it wont sound half as good.
I just did the exact above setup in a Transam and the kid was very happy it pounds nicely.
Otherwise for about 100 dollars more you could step up to an Elemental Designs 13kv2 and a Phoneix Gold PG 5.0:1 mono block amp. Run about 400wrms and it would hit alot harder and be a lil bit tighter sounding.
I took my 2004 convertible to a local car audio shop and told them I wanted an amp/sub/box (to go in center cubby) and was quoted $1400 for a JL system incl. installation. I am looking for a low-budget amp/sub/box to boost my stock system. I don't really need a high end system. To be honest, not sure my ears would know the difference. Is what you quoted all I will need? What is the PAC adapter? Assuming I don't DIY, which I'm not sure I want to tackle, what can I expect to pay for installation? Oh, and will the stock CD changer fit in a side cubby on the convertible?
That is all you would need though, if i recall you have top mount battery terminals, but if you have sidepost you need a sidepost adapter its like 5 dollars locally.
Check out this install writeup I did should give you the confidence you need. Literally you pull the center counsel and the passenger seat (its 4 bolts). Going into this blind it should take no more then 3 hours and thats taking extreme time, i have done em in under an hour more then once
