C5 Navagation System

C5 Navagation System
My dad has a 2003 coupe with the six speed. He is looking to get an after market Navagation system. He was looking at an Avic-N3 but is not sure if he will have enough room when the screen is out with the shifter. Does anyone have that model or another model or any other advice you can give about a navagation system in a C5. Would the C6 navagation system fit in a C5?

I just put a Pioneer AVIC Z1 in my 98 Nass Blue Coupe. I had an installer make the electrical connections and I had to cut and grind the rest. It will fit but does require some modifications.
The AVIC Z1 has some great features to it.

I have an AVIC X1R (same unit as the N3). The fit is reasonably complex for DIY but no problems with fouling the shifter if you use the stock position. If you reverse the HVAC its a lot tighter. The problem is that the screen covers the AC vents

As soon as I can clean up the plastic molding, I will get some out. There are 1/4-1/2 inch gaps on either side right now. I am trying to get that to look better. The screen is flush with the dash now. I will try to get some pictures of its current state.
