Is it worth the trouble to replace the Bose Gold CD/tape system in my 1991 or should I just have the speakers and hu refurbished? Is the Bose system good if everything is working? This is my forst vette so I am unsure as to what it would sound like when everything is working. Currently, at least two of my speakers don't have anywhere near the output of the others.
I should have put in that I have read the FAQ and a lot of comments from other owners. I gather that the Bose system is not great, I guess I was just wondering if the difference was worth the work for a guy like me that doesn't need a super high end stereo system, but I do want good clear sound. I have an Alpine hu with Alpine Type S speakers in my truck. Thanks for the advice!
The problem w/ getting everything fixed is that it could break again in a few years. The equipment is old; replace it w/ new, you will be happier in the short and long run.

Well, my mind has been made up for me. I went to drive the car since it has sat for a couple of months. The HU makes clunking sounds and won't tune any stations. I have to fight it to get a cd out and when I put one in, it clunks and grinds and stops ans starts as it sucks the disk in. I'd say time to put my Alpine system in the Vette!
