Paging 99HT--One last ?
If I use these wires to power tweeters like you said,
RF+ C1(2) TAN
RF- C1(1) GRY
LF+ C1(4) LT GRN
LF- C1(3) DK GRN
what impedence tweeters do I need? It seems like add on tweeters are 4 ohms. Will that run OK off of these wires?
Thank you,
Impedance is a complicated thing to explain. A speakers impedance varies with frequency, input power and pressure loading of the cone. No speaker is exactly 4 ohms. The impedance "averages" 4 ohms over a specific frequency range. Speakers are an acoustic transducer with a minimum and maximum frequency that it will operate over.
When you add a "4" ohm tweeter and it's crossover in parallel with the front 3.5" Bose Twiddlers, the amplifier will see a more complicated load. The impedance that the amplifier will see will be very low where the two speakers overlap in frequency response. The front 3.5" Bose Twiddler will have a frequency response similar to any add on tweeter. In reality it may be best to put the add on tweeter in parallel with the rear 5.25"/6.5" Bose Twiddler wires. The rear Twiddler is a mid range speaker. Putting a tweeter and crosover in parallel with it will mean very little overlap in the frequency response of the two speakers. The amplifier will not have to supply as much current at a specific frequency to both speakers at once, so it will run cooler and produce less distortion. Since all four speakers are in the same harness and connector, I am now going to list the rear speakers color codes.
