Default Best size speakers

Finally trashing my Bose unit to after-market head unit. Going with a double din unit with CD and cassette. Replacing speakers, no subs. What is the best size for front and back on a 92 coup. Head unit pumps 45 watts per channel.....enough for this old man. No amp. Some say 4x6 for front and 6x9 for rear. What is the best size???? Please let me know. John

The front really needs 5 1/4 or 6 1/2 with a little speaker grill cutting instead of 4x6. The 4x6 was good for 84-90 and when they switched the interior style they changed the speaker size.
Decks put off realistically about 1/5 the quoted power vs. an amp from a reputable manufacturer so expect about 10wx4 output. This being the case I would look for speakers with very high efficiency ratings. They will sound louder with less power. Stay away from seperates and look at coax for the front and a good 6x9 for the rear. If you want to make your sterio sound fuller I would add an amp. You will notice that the sound is richer and fuller but not louder. I play my radio with 580w of amp power and it sounds rich even without the sub at normal talking volumes. You could get a good amp for under $200 and it would add greatly to the sound of your sound and it wouldn't be difficult to install. Also, if you haven't bought the deck yet, you could get a model without the power and save usually 50-100$ to put toward the amp. Either way, let us know if you need help.
