tweeter mounting location in my coupe
Any pictures?
You can add tweets provided that you have a power source for them. (IE an aftermarket amp, or 2 unused channels on a Headunit) HU's are not capable of 2 ohm loads (typical load placed on an amplifier using 2 "automotive" based 4 ohm speakers), however most amplifiers are. You could also wire them in a manner to create an 8 ohm load, but doing that cuts power to your amplifier a bit (costly usually when dealing with HU amps)
Where you locate them is another deal. Placing tweeters in the back of the car has a major negative, that being the impact to your "soundstage". By placing them behind you you take the most directional of frequencies and give them not only a poor route to the listener, but also one that is very far from the driver that is playing the neighboring frequency range. This causes the stage to be pulled behind the listener as well, which from a normal listening standpoint is never a good thing. When was the last time you faced away from a concert stage for that sweet "rear fill' effect?
If you have the power source to add them, I would look into either an a pillar location, a sail panel (corner of the front edge of the window and dash) or possibly a very front corner area of the dash itself. All forward positions from the listener and all are preferred IMO to one that is behind you.
Let us know a little more info (IE how they are getting powered, nd maybe the speaker specs) and we will try and point you in the right direction.
