Default Question on Running Wires C5

Well this weekend I completed the better part of my new stereo install. I also did the Frostking mod while I had everything apart.

My question is how does everyone run the RCA cables? Right now I have them just strung over the bump in my coupe and planned on just laying the carpet over them... any thoughts on this? I'm not sure if I have enough length to run it to the B piller and behind the molding for the driver side speaker like I did the other wires that I ran on the passenger side.

I'm thinking this shouldn't cause too much of an issue, but if anyone thinks this is a bad idea let me know before I lay the carpet back in tonight.

Thanks!
Jay

If you're going to put any weight on the bump, there is the potential for the RCA cables to become pinched, and break inside.

You can get RCA extensions from RAdio Shack for a few bucks, and run it through the b pillar if you'd like.

I ran mine along the driver side wall and at the b pillar went across the panel behind the seat then along the top/side of the trans tunnel at the top edge of the carpet padding.

I suppose that is probably the way I should do it...

Thanks!

I'm not sure I'm following, did you run along the door side or the tunnel side? If you ran it along the tunnel they whole way to the back, any issues with the carpet looking like its bumped up at all?

i ran mine on the passenger side of the tunnel. only thing is that mine only runs to the back of the seat. What you can do is run the cable along the tunnel. then move across the seat back toward the seatbelt/b-pilar and then up toward the trunk area. just run it along the existing wire harness that goes all the way to the back

Sorry for the confusion. As DPG said. I ran from the rear along the drivers side in the luggage compartment behind the right rear speaker to the b pillar. Then down about 1/2 way and went across to the tunnel. You'll find there is about 1 1/2" of carpet under the console that doesn't have padding. I ran my cables right along the top of the padding, covered by the carpet. Because the pad ends there you see no bump.

Has anyone drilled THROUGH the bump, and maybe fixed some PVC pipe in there, and used it as a wire conduit?

Ok I think I've got it.

I ran to Radio shack and picked up another 6 ft of RCA and some end connectors so I should have enough to route it under the B-pillar cover now and around the trunk area.

Thanks again everyone.
