Default Which new system to choose

My husband bought me an iPod adapter for my stereo for Christmas. I need new door speakers cause I blew out my passenger side door so now my husband was thinking we would get a new system instead so--

What head unit would you get and why? My husband wants something that has excellent response with the iPod (he has been looking at the Alpine CDA9856) and my only requirement is that it is bluetooth compatible. So lets here them and be as specific as possible. Pics work to and any information you think might be helpful. I also have this posted in general in case anyone has seen it before.

Thanks
Lori

Not sure---he didn't really give me a budget--silly husband

Like I said he wants the best iPod integration and I want bluetooth--as long as it can do that I'm happy.

I don't want to go off the wall either but a good start would be nice..

Thanks
Lori

My husband and I are lookin at alot of travel this year(hopefully alot of shows) and he wants to show off both cars (which means me in one car and him in another)--I have a bluetooth headset but it is a real PITA (I literally ripped it off my ear on our way home from buying the car it pissed me off so bad) so when I saw stereos with bluetooth capeability I decided that was something I wanted. Being that alot of places want to ban cellphone use while driving---it sounded like a good idea..I see alot of people suggesting navigation systems but i really don't need something like that nor do I want to spend that kind of money. The Apline would cost about $300 (including the iPod and bluetooth adapter) plus new speakers---remember mine is blown in my door so I need new ones--but I would also like something that is as loud as the stock system so we may alos need an amp--I'm not sure---that is why I am asking for help.

The Alpine my husbnad is looking at has an excellent rating for iPod functionality (no pausing after selection as he put it) and it is bluetooth compatible but I saw some really nice Panasonics with both and some really nice faceplate graphics (I'm not sure if the Alpine has any faceplate graphics)..Hey--I'm a woman---I want it all..

ok i see. I think you're best bet would be the Alpine CDA 9857. It has full speed ipod integration as well as many other nice features (BBE processor and a Biolite graphics display which looks much nicer than the basice LCD or dot matrix types)

It's also bluetooth compatable but will need the alpine KCA 100BT adapter to function.
here's a link with the specs and a pretty picture:

I'd check ebay for the best deals. I got my head unit at 60% of retail brand new from a ebay store.

Go with the alpine hands down its the best way to go. Pioneer looks a lil nicer but drawbacks include slow ipod use, and no preset buttons for the radio.

Were you plannin on adding a sub at all or not?

I would recommend either putting some 6.5 coaxials in the door and running them off the radio or adding 6.5 components and getting a small amp for them. Going this route will be more expensive but will be much louder cleaner and all in all sound alot nicer. You dont necessarily need 1000 dollar JL audio equipment either its not like you plan on competing you just want something nice. For the rears some people completely ditch them or leave them and run them off the radio but you could replace them . In the vettes the rear speakers are pretty blocked especially in a vert, idk what you have though.

Thank you guys very much---I now have some info for my husband to research. You guys are great..

BTW it's a coupe and I like the rear speakers so if they would work with whatever we install that would be great and if I have to change them then so be it. I love all the suggestions I have gotten.

Thanks to all

Happy New Year and be safe out there..

you shouldn't have any problems with running stock rear speakers off the head unit's internal amp. have fun!
