C6 base audio system help
OK don't start bashing me I searched!
Everything I find is posts on the Bose system.
Ordered an 07 - should be in mid Jan.
Collecting parts now -intake, exhaust etc
Ordered a 2lt with base radio.
I will make a sub box for the rear and need to know where I can tap in for the low level signal for the amp.
If there is no where to get this signal are there any preamps out there to buy?
Also is there any advantage in replacing the stock door, rear & center speakers? What impedence are they? What is the power output of the stock radio and will it handle aftermarket speakers?
Thanks in advance

The door, dash, and rear speakers are marginal.Lots of posters replace them and keep the stock HU and amp and are happy. The base system speakers are 4 ohms, with a 3.5" and an 8" "sub" in each door,3.5 in the dash,5.25 in the roof pillars. Many are going to 6.5" drivers or 6x9" in the doors using custom plates either made by themselves,or using the excellent plates from Pipedreams.I have read of some who have gotten speaker level signal from the rear speakers to their amp(assuming your amp will accommodate a speaker level input) to drive the sub.It is said that the stock amp is rather noisy, but would probably make no difference if the signal is only for an amp for a sub. There are many very experienced stereo install people on this forum(and I count myself as a mere rookie in comparison!),but at least these are a few of the high points and I hope they are helpful.

Mark's got the system info correct and while tapping off the rear speakers would work it certainly isn't ideal. Line level output is available at the head unit and you'll get far better results using that. Check out my posts in this thread, it will save me re-typing.
