Default Bose radio question (not in the faqs)

Flame me about the Bose if you wish, but It is plenty good enough for my listening

What I wonder is there other gm bose radios that will fit in the 2002 C5? I would like to replace my oem bose cd radio with a similiar unit that is xm ready, or at least has the band button.
Does anyone know if there is a version that will work for me?

Thanks.

The FAQ contains information on connecting XM to the stock radio.

more aless bose is the only one you could integrate another nonbose GM radio but by time you did it you would exceed the cost of aftermarket

The SIR-GM1 requires the gm radio to either be an XM ready radio or have the band button, neither of which my radio is. i dont want XM, and I dont want an exposed sirius radio if I can avoid it and I am intent on keping the oem type radio. I guess I am too **** but I like the oem look and wish to keep it. I have never seen an aftermarket radio that looks like it came in the vehicle

Why do the after market vendors mostly ignore the size of GM radio openings?

Too many of them look like some bay-area revival of the studio 54 discoteque lighting system.

All I want is a slot on the factory radio that accepts compact flash cards.

Oh and this thermos then I will be happy...

Nakamichi and McIntosh make the most subdued heads.

I would recommend the Alpine 7998... alas, it is no longer in production.

I was thinking about this also. I'm not sure if it is 1.5 DIN, but what about a Bose out of something like a 2004 Tahoe?

I asked Gene (formerly at Fred Beans) this same question. He did not think it would work as the connections on the back would be different and not worth the trouble.

Default You can do it!!

All you need is schematics/wiring diagram and the harness/plug from the other radio. It's just electronics, you have to send the right signal to the right place.... As long as the headunits do not need to interface with the car's computer/ecm, you are set.
