My current cd player stopped working. I dont know how long i will be keeping this car because i may be selling it in the next 6 months for a newer one. However, i cannot drive without a cd player so i need something. I was considering a $150 pioneer unit circuit city recommended me. The only thing i am having done is a cd player put in. But they say since i have a bose system that it will be 233 total (including unit) to install. But they said if i have the factory amplified system it would be a total of 410 to install. Then someone on the forum told me not to have circuit city touch my car. What do i do. I dont want anything expensive because i may be selling the car. I have a 2001 coupe HUD. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Don't waste your money having CC hack your car up. If you don't think you'll keep the car much longer, check the C5 parts section for someone selling their CD deck. They usually go for 150 bucks or so which appears to be right in your budget.
if you're going to sell the car soon, i wouldn't invest in an aftermarket head unit. I'd look for a factory head unit on our favriote auction site.
if you want music now, you can get a portable MP3 or CD player and use an FM transmitter (avalible at most electronics stores) to send the signal to the radio. The sound won't be too fantastic but it's better than nothing.
I'm not exactly sure if there's a security measure you'd have to bypass, but i belive the GM head units are pretty much plug and play (anyone with more knowledge on this subject, please correct me if i'm wrong)
just take out a few screws, unplug the old, plug the new one in and you're done. vette essentials has a how to on removing your center console and you should be able to figure it out from there
