Default Stereo upgrade

I checked the FAQ area and could not find out the answer. I want to add aftermarket amp and upgrade the speakers while still using my factory "BLOSE" head unit. Will I have to run new speaker wires or can I use the factory wires?

Thanks.

You need to go to the audio/electronics forum which is under the general corvette section. Everything you need to know and more is over there. I am working on a plan to upgrade my audio as well. Good luck.

I would run new wires. If you post this in the audio section, you will probably get faster and more informative info.

Thanks.
You'll have to run new wires. The Bose amp is very small (about 4"x6") and is buried in the passenger footwell. No aftermarket amp will fit there. So that means you will have to run wires to the amp from the factory head (which is NOT Bose, by the way, none of the heads are Bose, only amp and speakers) and then from the amp to the speakers.

Check out the installation thread linked in my signature, it will give you an idea of the kind of project you're facing.
