Default Sub box/partition finally in and done!

Here's my creation. Started out as just a homemade partition made of 3/4" mdf and now it's this. It fits like a glove and wow is it LOUD right behind your head And these are only 8" subs!! 2 Kicker S8L7's powered by a Kicker 750.1(890 actual RMS, 445x2!) Head unit is an eclipse CD5000 with JBL GTO627 6 1/2's in the front door left the stock rears in for a little bit of sound with it mostly faded to the fronts. Oh yea the box is only 8" deep so there's still half the trunk left to use!

Here's a pic from the trunk

Other side

Looking in though the windshield

And from the drivers side door

well done on the construction.

if that entire box is hollow, you may want to consider addign some port tubes to get better lowe end bass response. otherwise very nice job.

really nice, exactly what i am in the process of doing except I am using 2 shallow mounted 10s so the box should be 4.5 inchs deep. Hopefully I make it next weekend, still gotta order some materials

it's not hollow, there's two sides .8 cu. ft. each which is perfect for the kickers in it. no need to port it and loose all the good tight bass, it has plenty of range as is

can you take a picture from the trunk? and what are the measurements of your box, width and height wise? I was looking at it and I think 45.5 should be a good size, once i add carpet that seems like it will be real snug, top wise I am thinking 10.5

you will not be able to fit any bigger than an 8" sub making a box this way. I only had 9" of enclosed space between my top and bottom 1/2" mdf and almost every 10" sub needs a 9 1/4 inch cutout. That's why I only have 8's myself... I will take a pic from the trunk tomorrow and post with measurements.

.5 inch mdf and bracing, considering that part of the box will only be 3 inches long I figure it shouldnt be a problem, that will leave me with 9.5 inches inside. Plus I am not pushing out anywhere close to you in power, mine will be 400-450 watts rms total
