All power wires NOT created equal.
After cleaning up after my install. i found scraps of 4 awg wire from various other installs. Most striking is the quality of the wire (all claiming to be 4 awg)
on the left is cheap flea market wire, streetwires ultra flow in the middle and knukoncepts Kolossus n the right.
this is the best pic my camera would take, but you can see that there is a substantial difference in the thickness of the actual strand bundles.
The lesson here is. when it comes to power/ground wire, you get what you pay for.
It should be noted that brand name doesnt' nessicarily mean you're getting the absolute best quality. For instance, when i first started installing stereo, i only bought rockford fosgate installation products. While the quality was there, the price was insane. In comparing Rockfords 4 awg wire to the three pictured it's closest to the streetwires 4 awg. Knu's Kolossus wire is roughly the same price as rockfords per ft.
