I actually am a manager of car audio for Circuit City. the part is DEI SIR GM1. I have installed these in several trucks and suv's they work great. up to 06 models but no luck on 07's. I tried to put one in a 07 tahoe last week and it wouldn't work...have not tried it in my own 07 vette because I get XM for free..
I bought mine at Crutchfield. Uses sirrius-gm1. It works great.
I'm very much interested in getting Sirius for my 05 C6, but don't want to replace the OEM headunit. btw, I don't have Nav, and do have HUD if that makes any difference.
The SIR GM1 does the trick, including in the '07s(I installed one in a friend's '07 coupe). For the coupe the XM module is over the left rear wheel well, just pull the carpet back. For the vert, it's a bit more work as the XM module is tucked away under the waterfall. However even that isn't bad to do as all it requires is removing a few bolts and a christmas tree pop connector.
I'm a recent convert to Sirius myself after years as an XM customer. I'll be installing the SIR-GM1 in my vert within the next week or 2.
Since I already have Sirius in my M5, this would be just an additional acct.
btw, about how long does the install take by an experienced pro?
If they are running an antenna about an hour. When we did my friend's he had an adapter to connect to the factory XM (does work, but reception isn't the best) and it took about... 3 minutes.
I just called a reputable stereo company locally, and the 1st thing they asked me was if I had a "Sat" button on the radio's interface. I do not. He then said he needs to do some checking on this and I should call back tomorrow.
btw, fwiw, i have the in dash 6 disk CD changer.

I'm not trying to say anything bad about the stereo company, but places that know much about our cars are few and far between. They tend to make assumptions based on the same model year for other GM vehicles and as well all know well, Corvette is a different beast altogether.
To use the SIR GM1 what you need is a radio that can control XM. There are only 3 radios used in Corvette and I believe only the base model (1SA was it in '05?) didn't have XM as an option. The 6 CD changer can control XM therefore it can use the SIR XM.
The only question I still haven't gotten anybody to answer for me is if the XM harness is present in cars that don't have XM as an option. I *think* it is, but worry about that assumption because I know for a fact that only factory NAV cars get the GPS antenna installed.
Pull that carpet back over your right rear wheel well. You should see a tray or a couple of clips anyway where a tray would go. If there's an unplugged wiring harness in there you're good to go.
How is this done, just pull on it from the top? Thanks a lot for that info!
Pop the hatch open, above the left rear wheel just push the carpet down and pull it away from the quarter towards the inside of the car. Pops back into place just as easily.
I think even I can do that! Thanks. btw, this whole time I thought you were talking about removing the carpet from the right front! Maybe now you can see my confusion.
I think I mentioned above, it's under the waterfall. There are 2 pops to remove from where the trunk divider attaches to it, then there are a couple of torx-headed bolts on top and another pop on the passenger side. Then you'll see the XM sitting in a carrier under that.
When I went to Cruchfields to buy the unit, they asked for vehicle info. when I put in vert 07 with Bose they daid the unit would not work. Is this correct or do they just not have instructions for this. The car doesn't have Nav.

You have a vert which is min 2LT. If memory serves(always suspect) then that means XM is an option and the SIR-GM1 will work regardess of what Crutchfield says. Crutchfield also says a double DIN head won't fit in my '07 Avalanche and they VERY wrong. I do tend to believe them when they say something WILL fit, but when they say it won't... not so much.
It's an hour or two worth of work. You're local. I work for beer. When it gets warm...
