Default Need help on Bose Stereo 1994

Stereo has stopped working. I have been advised that it probably is the CDM which is located in a floor compartment behind the passenger seat. I was shocked how "wet" its life must have been. (I've had this car 6 months) Lots of rust and corrosion.

NOW my question...
(any opinion about this whole process is also desired)
Note that there are wires on the corroded plugs that either "broke" or were not attached.
Is this normal or have some of the wires literally corroded to the point of breakage?

Here are some closer views.

Anybody know if these wires are supposed to be unattached?

ALSO...
I still have not solved how this area is getting wet.
Would I dear silicone under the lid, around the perimiter in hopes that I can divert the water from settling where the stereo component is?

Thanks for any help.

Hey YB,
I have a Used CDM from my 1993 if you need one. It's in good working order and is $100.00 including the shipping.
Good Luck,

I have seen one other person post who had massive corrosion of the CDM and connectors. I'm sure there are more cases we haven't seen posted. I don't understand where the water would be coming from either. Mine was bone dry. I had 1/4 inch of dirt in there, but it was dry dirt.

If you're comfortable with wiring, and since you need to rebuild the harness anyway, you might consider relocating it. I have moved mine out of that compartment in order to put an aftermarket amp in there and to gain some storage space.
