Default C5 Speaker Recommendations

I plan on keeping the stock H/U but would like to replace only the front 3 1/2 inch speakers and the 5 1/4 inch in the rear. Can anyone with expertise recommend what to replace them with? I don't want to waist money on speakers that are incorrect or don't fit. Thank you.

my suggestion for your application would be:

fronts: INFINITY REFERENCE 3012CF
rears: INFINITY 5012i 5-1/4"

this should significantly increase your sound quality.
Fyi, getting to the rear speakers is quite a chore compared to the fronts which can easily be done in half an hour for both sides.

I will tell you I got some Eclipse 2-ways which did NOT fit in the rear.

I then went and got some Alpine 5.25" coaxials which fit fine. The SQ of them with the stock HU is fine, but they are much quieter than the stock speakers were. I'm not sure if this is because they are 4ohm or if this is the way any aftermarket speaker would be. They have a sensitivity rating of 92dB so I was expecting them to be comparatively loud. Can anyone chime in on this?

Not for sure on this one, but i think the stock speaker requiered less power to play loud than an aftermarket speaker. The bose speakers weren't exactly designed for large amounts of power handling.

They just aren't as efficient. Finding speakers as efficient as factory ones is pretty much not going to happen.

And sensitivity ratings are a crapshoot anyway, they arent reliable enough to use as a basis of comparison.

speakers designed for the lower powered stock system will be louder than aftermarket speakers designed for more power. That's just how it is.
