I've decided on the Pioneer AVIC-Z2. I know the unit retails for $2200. How much did you pay for the unit and install? No, I'm not going to attempt it myself.....
Im a car audio installer. We usually charge $200 for a nav install although it isnt much more difficult then a normal head unit to do. If you can change the radio, you could do this yourself.
Problem you're gonna have here is that this section is mostly populated by DIYers. So asking a question like that is far more likely to result in responses saying how easy it is to do than what folks paid.
BTW, it's really easy to do yourself in these cars.

Thanks. I wonder how much the update CDs are?
You'd think for a HU that costs $2.2k they could offer X number of free updates during the first year of ownership and then stick it to you for $50 per update download after the freebies are gone or the first year is up.
A DVD holds 4+GB of data and unless it was a complete update of every single street in every city in every state and the associated POIs, updates should be able to be written to a single DVD and then loaded into the HU for update.
JMHO...I will probably get one or the other installed.
