The nearest grounding point without punching a hole in your body to gain access to the frame ground is the seat mouting bolt. You can also use the inner door frame but the bolt there is much smaller.
Fixed your post.
The 'closest' ground to the rear of the car is the factory ground in the rear passenger wheel well. It's located at about the same level as the upper A-arm, towards the rear of the car.
I placed my power distribution in the rear passenger storage bin and dropped a ground out of the bottom of the bin and connected it to the lug as pictured above.
Yep, the rear components need a ring as a spacer....The drivers side is TIGHT since you have the fuel fill elbow in the way.
Just the right size spacer with a little trial and error to get the proper mounting depth and still enough room for woofer excursion without hitting the grill...
If you grind your ring too much, then space it with a little dynamat to make a nice seating of the woofer.
This is where Dennis mounted the sirius antenna before he brought the car to me but we learned it has to be horizontal for good reception, the nav antenna is also back here
Where exactly is this on the car? I am currently trying to install a double din Kenwood and I am not sure where to put the GPS antenna. Thanks.
thats a piece of plastic he mounted it too, imo under hood by battery is easier of if you have a vert, open the trunk and mount the antenna in the opening behind the trunk lid and vert lid it will fit right in there and wont interefere with opening and closing at all
Wait till spring Greg and 2 years later you will be doing an upgrade
pm me with details im looking forward to it... we both learned alot about the dbl din mod that day, like what pieces specifically not to even attempt to remote lol
First off Dennis has a beautiful car and had a killer list of equipment to put in this baby.
First off anyone who claims dbl din mod is easy is seriously out of there mind I wont go into details but my god PIA, Ill think twice before quoting a customer for install with that haha. Dennis modded the bezel himself and brough that to me, but that still left lots to do behind the dash to make everything fit. Ok here we go with pictures.
Shouldn't the part about the double din mod be "second off"?
Did you have any problems sinking the radio back into the dash? I just got the Pioneer AVH 3200 and it hits the metal on the top and I believe the plastic in the back of the head unit. The a/c duct is right behind the radio right?
Looks great like always, how was the install of the amp on the rear? I am planning on moving my one amp there was it easy to just put a piece of MDF behind the carpet and then screw into.
Also what gauge wire did you go with. I have 4 going to a disblock and then 8 going to the amps. I am thinking of going to 1ga to a disblock to 4 gauge to the amps.(would you use the copper/all or use 99.9 OFC wire.
Amps Image I4500 bridged and then a PDX 1000.1.
Thanks Nick
