I've got a 2000 coupe with complete stock Bose setup (other than the ipod2car adapter). For now I'm happy with the power of the stereo and the sound of the speakers (for now...). What I'd really like to do is add an amplified sub to get some good bass
I've done the searches and know the PAC AOEM-Vet1 is the adapter to get. My question is do I still need to wire the amp to the battery for power (i.e. run a wire through the firewall grommet and attach with a fuse to the terminal), or does the PAC give power to the amp?
Thanks for reading and sharing your knowledge. I'm kind of new to this car audio thing.
You still need to run a power cable through the grommet to the battery. I did the same install using a PAC adapter, Alpine amp, & 10 inch Alpine sub meshed to the stock bose head unit. Just like you, I was a newbie - my amp install was my first. Follow the instructions on the site & you'll find the install to be a breeze. Currently I'm struggling to mold a bezel to accomodate a double din Avic D1 to finish my stereo upgrade. Piece by piece, I'm almost done. Good luck with your install !
Thanks guys...I figured I still had to power it, but wanted to make sure. I know...that darned iPod has started my weekends on a downward spiral of garage time with my Vette. The dark side beckons
Another question...10 guage, 8 guage or 4 guage install kit? I know the smaller the gauge number the thicker the wire and the "better" the signal, but what is necessary for a good install?
