hmm dunno, but in the off chance you decide to get a new h/u let me know about your alpine. maybe a trade could be arranged... the fiberglass enclosures are coming along, slowly and painstakingly!! but coming along. I knew they'd take some work, but daaayyam, it's just about ridiculous! Waiting on the new roll of fiberglass to get here before I can do anymore.

I will defenitly let you know.. Man, I'm sorry it's taking so long. Take all the time you need. I promise you that you are going to be getting allot of request for those after they see your fine work!
You might get a better answer to the question if you go to a site that is more specialized in CarPCs. Try www.mp3car.com.
But be warned.. once you see what all you can do.. you will be doing the CarPC for sure..lol.
I have found that I don't really need to buy a carpc. I just need a s-video to composite cable. Once I have that I should be able to hook my laptop directly to the HU. Then I just need to get a wireless keyboard and mouse. Anybody Here ever seen anything like this??? Will it look good.
Come on SENIOR GEEK.. I need your help!!

No... it won't look very good at all. It all has to do with the screen resolution.
Composite and S-Video uses the NTSC standard of 480i. While it may look fine for viewing videos and stuff like that, imagine trying to view your computer screen at 640 X 480.
While it will be possible to view your screen, it won't be pretty.

You might be able to go the laptop route. Like I said before.. check out the forums I linked to you above.. they have a number of guys that just use a laptop and pipe it out to a screen. I am not sure if they do s-video or VGA though.
Most CarPC monitors are touchscreens that do either 800x600 or 640x480. You can run some frontend software so that the buttons are bigger and easier to hit with your fingers. I use RoadRunner as my frontend.. it is pretty cool.. and best of all free!
