power antenna replacement
is the power antenna just a basic power antenna replacement or is there a certain model or special one that i need to replace it with....
sorry for such a basic question but with these cars sometimes what seems obvious is not...(like the damn receiver under the glove box)

The later Vette's used a Harada power antenna but, just buy a stock replacement so, it will bolt back in place on the bracket.
Also, if the motor still runs and the antenna gets stuck, it could be a broken mast which can be replaced for $20 without buying another unit.

the motor still runs, it's just that i need the actual antenna (it broke off) .....is the antenna part an easy replacement or possible without buying a whole new antenna system....

You can buy just the antenna mast on ebay or from one of the corvette vendors here on the forum.
To replace the mast, you'll have to remove the antenna motor from underneath, open the motor cover and remove the broken plastic antenna pieces then assemble the cover back and thread the new antenna mast in. Takes a couple of hours the first time.
There are a couple of Tech articles written for this procedure. Go to "other" at the top of the page click "tech tips" then C4.

$13.50 plus $6.00 shipping and go to their site for installion instructions or to order a new OEM mast. You probably have some cable broken off inside. Remove right rear tail lens to get to the bolts holding the antenna after removing the nut on top of the fender. Remove the round cover exposing the gears and remove the broken cable before trying to insert a new mast cable.
