C6 Audio questions
I had an 07 tahoe that I had an alpine w200, with a blackbird and dock installed in. The tahoe had onstar and bose so I bought the periphrial GMLANB module that has been nothing but total hell. (locks up, requires power resets, etc)
I have since sold the tahoe and bought a 07 C6 (1LT) doesnt have onstar nor Bose(well atleast nothing is labeled bose)
I want to try to do this install myself this time but need a little advice.
Do I need any kind of interface to match up with this unit even with out onstar/bose? if so, suggestions?
Dash kits? cleanest kits?
Ive seen a few of you guys have installed the pioneer and eclipse....looks like they are actually flush with the dash itself.
Any other tricks...problems...heads up.... would be greatly appreciated.
Purchased the GMCO chime module....had a local audio shop do the pre-wiring for the harness, i have the car completely apart and wanted to make sure it would work...WHAA LAA everything works BUT.... the speakers have feed-back....like light static when vol. is at 0, or even paused. another... I can turn the vol up to 3 and it is like it was at 20. Maybe something is mixed up?? HELP

Your Corvette should have an amplifier driving the speakers. The OEM head unit uses a low level output to feed the amp.
If they used the speaker level outputs from the head unit to the GMCO, it would cause the problems that you're finding - high level output feeding a line level input on the amp would have everything (background noise, and music) amplified.
The problem is that the GMCO instructions are written based on normal GM cars, and they didn't even put in any mention of wiring in cars that may have a stock amplifier.
I'd check with the shop that did your original instal. If they did wire to the speaker level inputs, then they also probably cut off the RCA ends on the GMCO.

yes.....they sure did......so how or can I even fix this?
But since it was the stereo shop who screwed up, I'd have them replace the GMCO with a new unit. Either way you'll need to take your dash apart again, so might as well get a replacement GMCO while you're at it.
Good luck.

Unfortunately the GMCO installation instructions lead folks right down this path because they did exactly what the instructions say to do for non-Bose systems. However the Corvette is unusual in that even the non-Bose radios have an outboard amp so for it the instructions for the Bose setup should be followed.
