well i pulled my bose out and replaced it with an aftermarket HU....i had disconnected the 3 plugs that go to the receiver box....radio was working fine for 1 week.....yesterday i removed the frisbee (which should have nothing to do with this but i'll mention it as this occurred after modification)... so i start the car and the left front old bose speaker starts whistling at a high pitch like an alarm.....short term solution was i just disconnected the speaker harness and it was slimy near the speaker.....i am not using any of my old bose stuff with my new stuff....new stuff is fine...
my question is when i disconnected the harnesses from the receiver, shouldn't that have cut the power source to the amps?
&
what's the solution??just disconnect all harnesses to speakers or is there a power source that i can get to , to disconnect the power source to the amps....
i'm concerned with frying these wires somehow and that leading to other problems in the electrical system
Thanks Dave
what mounting kit to use in dash? right now it's more or less just sitting in there stable but not great looking

Reason: another ?
there should be a fuse you can pull to kill the bose amps which it is idk its been a while since ive been in a C4. If you are replacing all the speakers any ways it would be easy to unplug the bose amp at the speakers.
For the fit kid I know a few ppl I think vrum vrum make fancy custom ones otherwise a metra 99-3051, available on the internet, or circuit city should have it in stock, you will also need a standard gm antenna adapter.
I am about 5 minutes from woodfield in palatine, if you need a hand let me know I have done stereos in countless numbers of vettes and am more then willing to lend a hand or some suggestions as need be.
also if you are replacing everything i recommend removing the entire bose enclosure at least in the rear and putting a 6x9, 6.5 or sub in its place and up front I would also remove them instead of being limited to the stock 4" speaker size
thanks for the offer....but as far as installing the system i'm okay , new hu and cheap temporary speakers are already in (maybe i'll take you up on the offer when i run into some problems putting the complete system in because lord knows nothing can go the way it should with the car)....and yeah i will be ripping all those bose speakers out....i was just concerned as to why there was still power to the speakers even though i disconnected everything at the receiver end (next to fuse box,,or at least the 3 plugs that i saw....i know there is a radio fuse in fuse box but then my new system would be disconnected.....even when i unplug the bose speakers , the cable in the car is gonna technically be live and that is what i want to kill.....
