Help please ! took the bose out of my 84 and installed a pioneer, got the ac / battery wires hooked up radio comes on but I have a grey and a red or pink wire left over what are they for ? tester says their not hot.The radio had everything but wiring directions in the box(my luck)I also have a blue hot wire comming out of the radio dont know on that is for either ? if anyone could help
Are the colors and the wires you posted on the back of your new radio or are these the wires that were used by the Bose radio harness?
For the Bose radio there are two pink wires from the harness. The source was the same from the Bose radio. When you turned the Bose radio on, 12 volts is on both Pink wires. The Pink wires energized the Bose Speaker Relay and also energized the Antenna Relay.
The gray wire is for dimming the display.
I don't see any mention of a Blue wire. They list a Dark Blue wire and a Light Blue wire used in the speaker wiring.
agent 86 couldnt get the pdf to open? grey wire was for the console/info lights, pink is maybe for the bose relay which I dont need? where the heck is the antenna wire that is what the blue wire goes to I think.Since we're talking electrical after over a year of fixing up my 84 from when I bought it I took it on a test run when I turned the lights on it blew the fuse in the INST what the heck is that, the cluster and lights come on except for the front side markers.I have no idea why this one is.
W89, I can't tell if you're asking about wires in the car's harness or coming from your new radio. I'm assuming you used a new wiring harness kit that plugs into the vette harness?
Blue wire off the new radio is usually for the power antenna - which would go to pink on your vette. You may end up with additional wires from your radio that you won't use (i.e. leads for remote amp turn
on, etc.).
Re: Your front marker lights - Check under your dash around the steering column for connections that aren't connected. I don't know the color code off hand.
I hook the blue hot wire from the radio to the pink wire and it pops a fuse?so I"ll just run a new wire to the antenna relay which I assume its the relay that is underneath the trim in the back near the hatch? I need to invest in something better than this Haynes manual.Thank you like always guys.just want to drive this thing been working on it for over a year, I want to post pics but its the hated 84 ,with a body kit, really hated on it,so I'll just keep all the hard work to myself
I may be wrong but.. Does'nt the blue wire off the back of the radio go to the amp (RS or Rm.. I forget what terminal) for the subwoofers in some cases with aftermarket recievers/stereo systems..Just a Thought

Either or. I think all new stereos have a 2nd wire that turns the antenna on only when you're on the tuner, and off when in CD mode. If you don't have that, you just hook it up to the amp wire and it goes up any time the radio is on.
I don't even know if the antenna relay will work like a normal system. It's Bose. Right is left, up is down, and red is blue.
