So having got the yellow vette, i'm going to be putting the Stealthbox and JL amp into it but I've decided against putting the amp behind either of the seats.
I really don't mind putting it in the rear hatch area, but I'd prefer some type of box to put it in that would keep it out of sight while also giving me something to mount it to beside the base of the rear deck.
I've seen a bunch of guys here who have built some nice custom stuff and I was curious if there are any vendors or manufactures that sell boxes/racks whatever designed to hold an amp in the rear area...
there are some plans in the c5 faq on how to build the sub box. best material for our purposes is 3/4" mdf. you can get tru-vette carpet that matches really well (exact match for my tan interior; better then my loyd's mats, pretty good match on the black iirc)
glue is what's going to hold the wood together...not the screws, so don't be shy with the glue. i just use brads to hold the wood together while the glue dries.
i was refering to the sub box (3/4"), the amp rack can be made of anything that'll hold it's shape. My amp rack was made out of 1x2 pine with hardboard cover, my last one was made out of 1/2 mdf and some people use fiberglass... the sky is the limit. sorry for the confusion

It looks like you have a coupe. Many folks mount the amp standing up on the very back wll of the trunk/hatch area. It is well hidden with the top latched, doesn't get in the way of the targa top mounts, and stays pretty cool.
The size/shape of your amp(s) will determine a great deal of what you'll need in an amp rack.
I have noticed that some of the cargo dividers offered by ecklers and midamerica would make excellent bases for amp racks. (just add a lid and drill for wires/mounts)
also, those cargo dividers I've seen are made of foam right? not so good for a hot amp I'd think...
One I saw wasn't big enough either...was one of the ones Southern Car Parts makes...was only a bit off but still...
if i were you i'd put them on the parcel shelf behind the seats (where i put mine in my last install) and build a rack that would let you flush mount the amp. then just make covers out of speaker grill cloth and an mdf ring (square with rounded corners) that will hide them. That would keep them hidden and give you a nice, clean, stealth install
I had the amp behind the passenger seat, but it limits how far back the seat can go...which is a pain because everytime my dad or some friends get in, their knees are jammed against the dash...
so the whole reason I'm looking for something else is to avoid having to limit the seats by having an amp behind it.
i wasn't suggesting behind the seats like you are refering too. i'm taking about putting it on the parcel shelf. click the link in my sig and check out where i had the amps. that's where i'm talking about

I don't see a sig...sorry if I'm just blind here...
And when I click your Photos under your avatar it just shows 4 images of the exterior of the car.
that's what i had in mind with my suggestion. just make some covers out of speaker grill cloth to let everything breath and you'll have a stealth enclosure for sure

So you'd just use that thing and then stretch some speaker cover fabric over the top/sides? Isn't that cargo thing like a plastic or what? Can it take the heat of the amp and such? I'll have to call to get the measurements, but that is basically the idea...just would prefer something covered in carpet as opposed to speaker cover fabric...
$74 for that cargo thing is decent, but from what I've read I can get someone to create a custom box for between $75-100 so...
