Well, this isn't for my Vette, but my 86 Monte Carlo SS. I want to quiet down the interior from the motor (its loud). I am looking at either Dynamat or Fatman sound deadening. Has anyone here used Fatman sound deadening mats? Is it close to the Dynamat? Any other suggestions? I would have posted this on the Monte Carlo forum, but a lot of the people on that forum go to the junk yard to pull a wheel cylinder and buy a rebuild kit, instead of just buying a new wheel cylinder. Thanks!!
check our raamatt and def. email the owner. he' s very knowledgable and will get you going int he right direction and not have you spend an arm and a leg
For exhaust noise you'll want Acoustic absorbtion foam.
I reccomend second Skin. In comparison to dynamat extreme, the SS damplifier pro is a better product and less expensive. Also check out their Overkill foam.
I used a combination of Damplifier and Overkill Pro foam all over my car. The end result was a drastic reduction in interior noise especially considering i was running borla stingers. According to my Epic 150's SPL meter interior noise at idle with stereo off is around 80dB mostly due to the low frequency of the exhaust. (80 dB is the equivilant of a telephone dial tone)
The true testiment to the sound absorption quality was an SPL test I ran last week. I ran test tonesup to 130 dB range and my friends were able to carry on a conversation easily at normal speaking volume directly outside the car.
