There are three connections on the Kenwood, pretty fool proof...
1. USB - This is for any device, but on the iPod it communicates the track/song info and iPod control
2. Audio - standard pin plug (like headphones) - the ip200 / 300 have this audio pin to plug into that.
3. Video - the IP300 has this additional pin on it for 5gen iPod video
All that being said, I had mine plugged into the video by accident, but that took all of 30 seconds to figure out, he stated that he is getting video so I have to assume that he plugged in the audio into the correct port.
Yes, it is possible (since you tried two cables) that the Kenwoods ipod audio cable is bad.
This may or may not work, can you try a dual pinned headphone style cord from radio shack or something to test the audio from the headphone output of the ipod (or anything else), the only other alternative is to switch out the HU. Like others have said, I do not believe there is any configuration, I have been through most menus and have not seen this as an option.
Yes, you are correct - audio, video, and usb - they are all plugged in correctly. My issue is bigger than the iPod as I found out today, I have found that the DVD sound is not working either. Actually what I have discovered is that if I just connect a speaker directly to the RCA's or regular speaker wires on the HU, I get sound for everything - iPod, DVD, Tuner (louder than the rest), etc. But when I connect them to the wires on the GMCO, I only get sound on the tuner. What could be different about the sound from the Tuner vs. all other sources that it works through the car speakers and the rest do not? Is it something with the Bose system? Any suggestions?
your stock amp isnt turning on unless you are on tuner, basically u connected the power antenna wire instead of the amp turn on wire
so go behind the dash and find where you hooked the power antenna wire from the kenwood to the gmco and unhook that and use the amp turn on wire instead and you will be set

I have it all working now - thanks to both of you!! I will let you know how well the bluetooth is working after a day or two of using it...so far it seems really nice.
I have been considering the same unit (Kenwood DNX7100). A local shop quoted $1,300 for the unit and $315.00 for install. Are these fair prices? I know I can get the unit cheaper through some internet electronic shops, but those are usually not manufacturer approved vendors and I'm afraid about warranty issues. Where did you guys purchase yours and was the above an issue?
Thanks
Can this unit be installed in a Bose Car and still work without changing speakers and adding amps?
I want to change out everything but I would like to do it in two phases.
Thanks,
Nelson
Yes, I just did it in an 07 coupe with Bose / no OnStar (finished it yesterday) - with 7100, bluetooth, camera, video ipod. It all worked really well today...I will keep everyone updated. Also I documented the entire install, alot of good pics if you need any examples.
I know these guys are good to work with and have a great price as well. I personally purchased locally and they matched Crutchfield prices, could have save about $300 over the internet but I installed it myself so...
Going to start install of 7100 tomorrow that is the only thing that hasn't changed. Still working on the final amp, speaker setup. Work much better under pressure.....

How was the sound quality? Good enough to live with until a phase II could be done?

Do the wheel mounted radio controls still function with the aftermarket unit?
