I want to find a product that works like the ipod adapters only have it work for the iphone. Has anyone heard about a product or does anyone have an iphone that is working on their ipod car integration system?
I'd really like to know anyone's experience that has the Avic or DNX7100 how well the iPhone works.
I'd been holding out for a decent HDD based HU like the Avic (heard bad reviews in particular about it's bluetooth) but now that the iPhone could replace that, I think the DNX7100 in particular seems like a good replacement, but it still needs to have good iPhone / iPod integration as well as bluetooth integration.
Does anyone hold the key on how to integrate the nextel, motorola i880 phonebook to the kenwood bt-100 or kenwood bluetooth on the Kenwood DNX7100 I can't seem to figure it out.
On the Iphone, as an ipod, is should integrate via the ICA200 or 300 (with video) as to Bluetooth, call Kenwood tech support, they have helped me with everything so far, but I still have to call on the phone book download. As far as Bluetooth goes, it works great with my razr and Nextel Blackberry…
From a procedure standpoint, I made my phones "discoverable" and then did the search from the Kenwood, it found then and I just pick the phone I want to have active...
Additional information on the phone book, however it's not really good. On my motorola phone (RAZR), it can only transfer one contact at a time and it must be done from the phone's phone book. I tried mine, picked a contact, got into the phones menu, hit send, and then it said "bluetooth link is busy". I have not at this point been able to transfer a contact to the DNX...
The iPhone has a 4 wire head phone jack instead of the normal three wire. Also, the iPhone headset plug body has to be about 0.235 inch diameter (any larger and the plug won't seat into the iPhone). Note that 3 wire standard head sets won't work on the iPhone without an adapter.
I am in process of fabing up an adapter that will pipe the audio into the head unit using the AUX2CAR unit (already installed in both vets. See my web site for details). Also the adapter will have a microphone and momentary close switch which should let me try using the iPhone as a hands free phone. The audio out portion works, now selecting a micophone and switch.
If its any help, I know this topic is a bit old, but I have an Avic D3 in my Trans Am (custom install) and the iPod cable and controls work fine with my iPhone. I'm not sure about video (i dont think the iphone has a tv out feature) but the audio is fine, controls and all.
