So far i've come up with 3 possible mounting solutions:
a) On top of the steering collum. (Simple install and easy to hide wires however could be a tad distracting at night)
b) Upper frame of windshield directly above rearview mirror. (Not too distracting but running the wires might be a challenge
c) Custom bracket on top of capacitor mount. The capacitor is currently sitting on 2 Aluminum brackets. I could add on to these to accomindate the Ammeter. (see pic)
It would be a good idea for you to dig further into this before you jump. I suspect this module does not do what you're trying to do. There's precious little information about it available.
This type of meter doesn't look like it's the type to keep up with real-time changes like a voltmeter. There's going to be a refresh rate to the display which might be slow, and therefore not really represent the changes appropriately. Voltage drops from a car battery tend to have a swing time (so to speak) that is easier to keep up with than amperage. The voltage changes as a percentage of the meter's range are also small for a voltmeter, but can be quite large for an ammeter.
I'm not saying it won't work, but I'd make sure it does what you want before you commit.
how about mounting it where the traction control button is?
somtimes i use that button....
I've actually hit on a 4th option that may be best. The Plastic area directly behind the console isn't being used and it sits on top of the main power and ground wires.
This doesn't give Me the mounting flexability of the other one, but it is designed specifically for Car Audio. I could also use it since my system doesn't have a main-line fuse. I will probably end up installing it in the area just benith the capacitor.
my objective would be to install it centered in the plastic area behind the console door where the duct tape is holding the blue ground wire.

Stop right now and go put a fuse under the hood some where.......You have a dangerous situation in your car.......You do realinze that ( god forbid) if you where in a accident and that main wire was breached your cap could blow up right next to you.......Or if that wire comes of the cap you will have a live welding rod floping around in your car that you cant turn of unless you take a batt. cable off......
The Amp meter is cool it will be sweet where ever you put it.....
