Default Dialing down the sub??

I'm getting ready to do a Kenwood 7100 install in my C5. All the BOSE stuff is going away and a 10" 800w sub in a Stealth Box is also going in. Is there a way to instll a potentiometer that will allow me to easily dial down the sub when the wife wants to talk...plus, our listening habits are a little different.

Just thinking in advance.

most, if not all head units have a subwoofer volume control. If not, many mono amplifiers offer a remote control.

You should be ok with your unit, it has a built in x-over (highpass/lowpass) and adjustable sub-level...

System E's+ Advanced Crossover System: The System E's+ Advanced Crossover system allows you to tailor your system with selectable crossover points for all channels. For the front and rear channels, there is a high-pass filter with independently selectable crossover points of 40Hz, 60Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, 120Hz, 150Hz, 180Hz, 220Hz or Thru (no filter). The non-fading preamp output, for use with subwoofer amplifiers, has a low-pass filter with a selectable cutoff frequency of 50Hz, 60Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, 120Hz or Thru (no filter). You can also switch the phase of the subwoofer output from normal to reverse, and adjust the level of the output from -50 to +10 in 1dB steps.

On the DNX7100 the "audio button" on the right has sub gain controls.

You or your wife can easily turn it up or down from there. Takes about 3 seconds. Range is pretty wide so you can go from "slapping yourself in the head" to "what happened to the sub?"
