Default power source for RAP w/ window valet

Where can I tap into an ACC power source that will allow the HU to play with the window valet. The windows work but the HU doesn't power up. I have an after market HU and connected the ACC wire to the yellow wire in the passenger foot well. Thanks!

I dont think you can just tap into a wire to do this. However, the same Top Down Tech (people that make the window valet) also have a module that will allow you to have that function. Its not cheap, but I think it may be the only way to do it (something about the data bus).

Or you can try to tap into the door switch cause the power windows have that. you can find the harness for that in the kck panel.

I could be totally wrong but I think with the window valet you just use the ignition wire in the stock radio harness

hmmm...Id love to know for sure on that. Anyone know if the Ignition remains hot? There was a discussion about this a while back, seems the answer was something about the databus. Ill see If I can find the thread, Maybe one of the poster from that will see this and chime in too.

Found it. From reading over this again it looks like the power window idea would be a no go. Appearantly they are only energized when the window is in transit, so you radio would come on when you move your window, then shut off again . As far as the ignition wire in the stock harness, I believe the function is a bit more complex than that. If you look in this thread below, TheKomoman talks about the RAP in a little detail. The signal is sent from the data bus and then has to be interpreted by whatever accessory is to remain on. So if you taped into stock harness you would indeed have a signal there, but your aftermarket HU wouldnt have a way to interpret that. Thats at least what I got out of it. Maybe Komoman will chime in on this.

It doesn't make sense that the window power wont work. There is an up relay and a down relay. Both would have to have power on one side for the duration of the timer, and only on the other side when the button is depressed.
