i am considering a touchpad if i ever upgrade to streetdeck because it recognized gestures. Basically I'm setting up the computer to be as driver friendly as possible...meaning that i want to minimize the amount of 'touchscreen' interaction as possible. why? well when you have a button on a touchscreen you have to take your eyes off the road to see what you're pressing. The slots below the touchscreen and the gadget i'm placing in the cupholder location will help with my goals.

Ohhh.... I know what you have planned...

TrackIR 4 Pro Point-of-View Headset FTW!

It might look silly driving around with it on your head, but no more worries about using a mouse!

Tubes, they double as a heater in the winter.
Cold, play the music louder.

the real question is: can you link it to the IR sensors, 30mm chain gun and hellfire missiles?

lol... i'd be more then willing to help you design a system, unfortunately i didn't do this install (i did my old one though!) but the guys that did the work have done car pc's in vettes before... so you'd be in good hands going with them

I would be really excited to see something like this. Did you say you do have a pc in your car already? Do you mainly have it for the sake of the amount of music you can add or how are you utilizing a pc vs. a radio with dvd/nav?

yup, i have a pc in my car and have had it for about 2 years now. i mainly use it for music (hate having cd's sliding around) but i also love the gps and i even have engine diagnostics where i can see what my engine is doing check any error codes.

i can also; if i wanted to set it up, control functions in my car throught the pc. if i had the non dual climate control a/c in my car i could even control the ac via the computer.

possibilities are endless :-)

my old install is posted in the link in my sig
