All the threads I see about AUX inputs seem to indicate you need to have XM or a 6 disc changer. I have neither. Just the base level single disc system. Am I out of luck for adding an AUX input?

If it's for an iPod, Crutchfield says this will work:
I have the same issue and did all the research. Our LT1 radios do not have XM bus or protocol support (or whatever it’s called). All the devices I have found (Nexus X2i with the NC-GM31T harness and some others) all use XM bus or protocol to communicate with our LT1 radios. I know because I installed the Nexus this weekend and it didn't work.
My questions is does anyone out there have a 2007 corvette with XM and a standard radio with no navigation. If this setup does exist, then the solution to our issue is to buy a "standard" radio off a corvette with XM.
This then presents yet another issue. If we buy a used radio on eBay, is the radio married to the car it came from? If so, that means we then have to go to the dealer and get it programmed.

Yes, if you buy a used radio from another car it is VIN-locked and would need to be re-programmed by a dealer. To my mind, by the time you do all of that it doesn't take much more cash to get into a double-DIN head unit that you can add XM or Sirius to for direct control. Looks better, sounds better, works better than any of the stock radios. That famous auction site likely has any number of used double-DIN units from people moving on to the latest & greatest.
Don't bother with the PAC AAI-GM24 aux input converter for the base radio either. I emailed PAC and they said it would work so I bought one. Installed it and it did not work. I called their tech support and they now say I guess we were wrong, their aux input will not work. Better off with an aftermarket head unit with aux input and/or Ipod capability. I'm looking to change out to an after market HU. I'm looking for something with an aux input and Ipod capability. Any suggestions?
It seems that the C6's single CD, non-bose base stereo head unit is not "XM Ready." So nothing you plug into that second connector will work. I had the dealership try to reflash the head unit to activate the band switch for XM and they couldn't do it. They charged me $136 for this knowledge, so I feel obliged to share.
I put AUX adapters in my Ford Explorer and Lincoln LS with no problems and had similar hopes for the Corvette. So now my Corvette has a Pioneer AVIC-D3 with iPod interface, bluetooth, DVD, and NAV capabilities. So with the iPod interface and bluetooth, I am now better off than the factory NAV setup.
