C6 Speaker replacement recommendations
And anyone that can, blind test, tell the difference reliably, can have his $10,000.
For example, a Zapco 100x2 vs a Kicker 100x2, both set to provide the same wattage output.
Same types of amps of course. Not Tube vs Class D...
I think the challenge has been open for... 10 years now. It'd be nice to see someone knock him off his pedestal, since you can hear the differences between amps. :yesnod;

Not to mention the virtual impossibility of true double-blind testing while swapping hardware. The best (most practical) I've ever seen was set up by Hydrogenaudio forums. That only deals with software, and it's difficult to subject one's self to. Clarke's wager is unbeatable not by the opposing viewpoint, but by the nature of the test. Clarke knows this. If the test were a simple thing to administer, every audio magazine in the world would be using it. Many have tried it, including an attempted massive study by Stereophile that included statisticians. The results have always been inconclusive because the test itself can't be controlled to an extent where it's repeatable and reliable.
That said, different amps absolutely do sound different. I've experienced it countless times in my home setups. Some were night/day. There are qualities one can't pick up in a few seconds of listening. Most times character of an amp is something the listener becomes familiar with over significant time. In short sessions, familiarity with the material itself comes in to play. So do the speakers used. The room. The time of day. The list is endless.
I'm curious, though, since you seem to support Clarke's position, why do you then say "They are a bit expensive for their performance, but definitely quality amps?" Seems you want both sides of the fence.
In any case, I have some Profile and Pyramid Pro amps for you. Since there's no real difference, they'll compliment Hifonics nicely.

I found this from a website: 3-way K2P
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=4336
and 2 way K2P
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=3411
Which amp(s) would I need for each?
Just the one 300/2?
Honestly, the focal 2 way system is very nice. Focal makes drivers that cover the frequency range extremely well. I say, unless you are getting an 8" or large midbass, you are not really going to have any real advantages from a 3 way set.
furthermore, a lot of manufacturers use midrange drivers as the midbass in a 3 way set... not a purposebuilt driver at all, but one designed as a compromise between high and low response.
I say stick with a 2 way, with the Focals. I ran the Focal Utopias... they are everybit as clear in the midrange, if not more, than my 3 way Dynaudio set.
