OK, I know this has been discused in some detail on here, but Im looking for some clarification and maybe some updates. I getting ready to do my install in a few weeks and Im researching locations for the SIRIUS antenna. Seems like a lot of people are placing them in the rear bumper area, behind the tail light or on top of the latch thingy. Also seems like some people complaining about SIRIUS loosing reception and Im wandering if the two are related. I have sirius in my truck with it mounted on the roof and I have no reception issues, of course if I drive slow under a bridge or underpass or get stuck uner one then it goes out. But thats too be expected. Has anyone found any better solution for a stealth install, or have any better experience with the previous mentioned locations? Thanks.
I tried many different options. I made a slick little plastic bracket and mounted behind tail light....reception sucked...I mounted up under the rear facia....reception sucked. I mounted just above the rear plate....reception sucked. So I did what i really didnt want to do and put it on the very center top of my rear hatch glass. The reception is perfect, I never loose a signal. Funny thing is, I have the NAV antenna mounted under the rear facia and it works perfect.
I did try a new antenna by the way in same places i mentioned with the one I got in the package and that didnt work very welll either.
Here is a pic of where is mounted now and comes in clear....you just have to over look the mounting of the antenna in plain sight.

I mounted mine inside the rear facia directly behind the left two taillights. It is mounted on an aluminum "L" bracket and siliconed to the rear trunk wall.
I have NO reception issues at all. Okay, a tree near my driveway creates problems but none on the road.
I think the key is to make sure you get it as level as possible. It does look for satellites in the southern sky so if you have it tipped very far you could run into reception problems when driving in some directions.
Here's a thread I came across while researching this same issue for my own install. It seems that a lot of folks have had success locating it behind the passenger side tail light, which is where I'm planning on trying mine first. I wonder if for some reason this works better in a C6 than a C5 (given C5 Bear Fan's difficulties), or whether you get better reception depending on what part of the country you're in.
I have mine mounted on the dash next to the defrost vent. No reception problems at all.
Im sure I would get the best reception by placing it thre (at least for an inside mount), but Im **** and having that sit on the dash with a cord running across my car would drive me If it would get reception mounted to the inside glass that would work, but I think it has to face out. Im gonna try the behind the tail light trick first.
