Default Dead Antenna 94 Coupe

My antenna has not worked since I bought the car. It's in the down position. I searched for the antenna relay, but can't find it. Does it even have one?
What's the best way to remove the antenna? My Helms Manual says to take out the rear speaker to get access to it, but the body panel is there.

well... it's a bitch.

1. jack up and remove LR wheel.

2. Remove inner fender liner.

3. look at antenna and marvel that some ***-hole thought this was a good idea.

4. remove harness connector (I don't remember if this is here or inside the car)

5. inside car, open hatch

6. remove left gas strut.

7. cuss that this takes so many steps.

8. remove trim panel and LR speaker.

9. pull back carpet, look for antenna harness. disconnect.

10. remove grommet that seals the harness for the antenna.

11. back under car, marvel that some ***-hole thought this was a neat idea.

12. remove bolts that hold antenna to body. 10mm, IIRC.

13. remove castle nut holding antenna to bodywork.

14. remove grounds to chassis.

15. have a beer, cuss some more, cause you have been at it for nearly 2 hours and still haven't acquired a sence of accomplishment.

16. reverse process to install new one.

It's something like that... real close at least.

Bogus understates it. This is a SERIOUS PITA. I did it twice. Buy the best antenna you can find so you don't have to repeat this torture.

Damn, guys. That's funny.
You think just like I do. I'm not looking forward to doing it, but...

Is there a relay for it?

Yes. Mine was in the storage compartment with the CDM but it may move around by year and body style like the CDM did. Check your FSM.

The antenna in my C4 vert is easier to get to than any other car I've worked on the antenna on. Most of them required contorting your hands into tiny spaces in the trunk or hatch with lots of sharp edges and sheet metal screws to cut you, and then working by feel because you couldn't see anything.

My manual says it's in between the LR speaker and the tail lights. Under the trim, I only saw the ant. connector. I'll pull the antenna out and see if it will operate directly off the battery.
