Default Radio Theft Lock

I bought a used 6-disk OEM radio for my C6 to replace the original single disk unit. The install went well, and the radio worked properly until I switched on the ignition. At that point the theft lock activated, and the party stopped.

The manual says I have to go to the dealer for this issue. Does anybody know if I can override the lock myself?

My understanding is the radio needs your VIN programmed into it as well. Looks like a dealer visit...

The procedure for a C5 is at this Tech link, here on the CorvetteForum.

https://www.corvetteforum.com/techti...=164&TopicID=1

It "may" be the same procedure for a C6.

Good luck!

I tried the C5 trick, and that did not work. I read on another forum that for the C6, an OTC Tech 2 scanner is needed to reprogram the computer to accept this new radio. I don't have access to one; so Hawk07 was right - looks like a dealer visit.

The first dealer I talked to quoted $92 (their hourly rate) and I would have to wait a day. I plan to find a different dealer.

Thanks.
