I have a C4 1990 vet, only the left hand speaker works. (Bose System) The service manual says there is a relay under the steering colum and I can't find it. Is there one or am I looking in the wrong place?
Any and all advise welcomed
Thanks Mike Marck
From what I have learned it is the individual amplifiers in each speaker box. If the cone of the speaker is ok, then chances are it is the amps. They are available on ebay at about $50 -80 each. Maybe someone here in the Forum has a better resource for them
Many CF members have used Dr. Don to repair their Bose systems.
I used Rich at Same Day Auto Audio Repair in VA. You can find him on eBay (best to search under Bose Radio repair). He is very competitively priced, very quick turnaround and outstanding customer service. I used him to repair my radio, upgrade the CD player to accept home-made discs and new amps for all four speakers. I had one speaker go bad just outside the warranty and he repaired it at N/C.
Do a Google search and you can find great instructions for removing the radio and/or the speakers. Very easy to do.
You might want to check the amps in each speaker. The back ones on mine were visibly fried when I bought the car. If they're bad they suggest replacing them in pairs ( back / front ). I found mine on E bay $74 each. Good luck.
