I am adding a sub to my 2002 corvette convertible with the stock bose system in it. I installed the amp, sub and an Four-channel line output converter by SCOSCHE.
I am not getting an audio signal to my amp, I know this by testing my amp. I connected an mp3 player direct to the amp and it plays through the sub. I also checked the RCA cable and its good as well.
So its either the Line Output converter or my connections to the stock harness.
I have connected my converter to the rear speaker wires, on the white harness, (The main harness that has a black and white part)
A1 to Left Rear Brown
A2 to Left Rear Yellow
A3 to Right Rear Dark Blue
A4 to Right Rear Light Blue
(Ohh, I used Posi-Products™ Wire Connector Kit, they're like wire taps)
Should I try connecting to Front Speaker wires intsead? I ordered from Crutchfield and they are sending me a replacement converter.
Seems like you can't use the rear speekers for the base signel. The best way is to buy a PAC vette interface. I got one on fleabay. they are 45 or 55 bucks. it hooks directly into the back of the raido and you need to splice one wire into the pwr antena for the amp to power up. hope this helps..
Well, I did find a way to do it untill I get a new deck and front speakers. All I did was tap into the rear speaker wires right behind each speaker. And it works great. The converter worked when it tapped into each speaker behind itself. But my apline amp had a built in speaker input so I used that. I listened to both options and I couldn't tell the difference.
So, bottom line.... If you want to add a sub to a stock C5 is that you need an amp with built in speaker inputs and tap behind each rear speaker. Yes, I know that I should of tapped into the sub lines in the doors, but that seemed like too much trouble since the rear speakers are easy to remove.
I did it while back just dont remember exactly how i did it. I know I tapped into the door speakers on each side after the stock amps though. Takes a little while to do but works great especially since you can use your stock bass *** on your stock radio. I found out how to do it on this forum just do a little bit of researching first if you still cant find it pm me and I will take my doors off and take a pic for you and find out exactly what i did. it has just been a couple of years (4) since i did it.
There is no bass signal to the rear speakers from the stock Bose amp- you have to go to the fronts. I went through all kinds of trouble with a PAC converter and then finally had my stereo guru get into to it- tapped into the front speakers to get signal. I am running a JL 500/1 with a W/6 10 in a SubThump box. Have the bass control where the factory cigarette lighter was in the dash. Also running an iPod. All on the factory head unit. Works pretty well, actually- the W6 will beat my Valentine 1 off the front window if you turn up the gain . . .
