My Humble Sub Install (C5)
I'm not in to competition as you can see from my system. I just wanted to add a little extra bass and to keep everything as stock looking as possible. With the exception of the Subthump, I did everything on my own, again with help and research from this forum. I am quite happy with how it sounds and I have the satisfaction of doing it myself.
System:
Stock Bose HU, amp & speakers.
PAC OEM-Vet1 4 channel line output adapter ($40 eBay)
PAC Auxbox iPod adapter ($32 eBay)
Subthump 10" stealth box ($120)
Punch 10" P1 sub ($50)
Alpine 3536 amp (I had this kicking around)
The amp is six channel bridgeable down to 3 and it's overkill but I had it sitting around doing nothing so it was time to put it to use.
Other misc items:
2 16 ft rockford RCA cables ($10 each)
16 ft power cable (4 gauge) ($20)
16 ft trigger wire ($3)
10 ft ground cable (8 gauge) ($12)
4 ft speaker wire (12 gauge - for the sub) (I had this)
MDF for mounting the amp ($3.75 in the shelving section at Home Depot, including the cut to size)
Installation is well documented so I won't go in to that. Just a few things that I did not see anyone mention...
1) I had to move the stock CD changer to the right compartment. No issue. It actually works out well with the Auxbox as I connected that to the changer cable in the same compartment. If I ever want to connect the changer, everything is right there.
2) The stock mounting screws for the changer had to be cut. I had no way of getting them out and the subthump wouldn't fit with them in there.
3) It's a real pain to find 10 feet of 8 gauge ground cable. Most stores sell 3 feet. I had to ask an install shop to sell me the cable by the foot.
4) Its better to cut the foam off the back panel if you mount some MDF back there to secure your amp.
Here are the pics:
I didn't want the iPod showing so I ran the wire under the carpet from the back right storage bin, under the center console and in to the area under the arm rest. I have enough cable left over to move easily hold and select my playlists etc.

This is everything all buttoned up.

This is without the cover.

And the Sub.

My 92 coupe has a factory tape deck. Sounds remarkably bad. My 96 Roadmaster "Concert Sound II" stereo sounds however remarkably awesome! The disparity makes me wonder sometimes.
