Help with Speaker Amps!!
There appears to be a glue on the capacitors and surrounding area (orange in color). What is the best way to remove enough of it to get the capacitors out?
I am following an old post that says 90% of the time it is the larger capacitors that go bad, and just have to be replaced. They also said that you can use 1000uf 16v as a replacement. I have them, but they are taller that the original ones' and therfore the metal cover will not be able to fit back on. Do you really need that cover?
One of the speaker wires is broke at the connection (the wire comes from the center of the speaker to the outer part and is connected to the metal clip). It appears too short to soldier back on. Any suggestions on extending the wire, etc.? The area that you would have to work with is very tight.
Any other suggestions-recommendations on the above issues would be greatly appreciated. I would like to have the speakers done before Carlisle this weekend>

On the wire, try to solder on a new wire if there is enough room.

Ive heard of people using a knife/razor to just cut away at most of the glue. But i haven't tried this, so im not 100% sure. My gess would be that once you got enough glue removed, you can melt the rest away with a solder iron.
The wire is tough to ge to. the speaker is on top, the magnet is on the bottom, and the speaker casing (with small holes) is on the side.
Any more help out there?
