Default Fantasy SQ system for C5

What would the Ideal SQ system entail (especially speaker location/aiming) in a C5?

Assume money is no object and focal point is driver's head only (passengers will have to suffer)

Here is what I would do:

Lock windows in a fixed position.
Recover seats in cloth.
Recover pretty much entire interior with thin foam backed cloth (Think headliner.)
Liquid damping on outside of all panels, mat damping on inside in conjuction with LuxuryLiner

Head unit? Undecided... Maybe F1.
Dynaudio 10" midbasses up to 1khz in sealed door enclosures
Molded dynaudio MD142 midranges in the doors, in a lower area. 1khz-5khz
dynaudio MD102 tweeters, 5khz+, molded into a-pillars much like mine are now.
Subwoofers in rear corners, running in stereo. Probably ARC 10s.
ARC amps, maybe Foose line.

Power (each):
Midbass - 350w
Midrange - 90w
Tweets - 90w
Sub - 200w

-\

On second thought, I'd try the new Focal Utopia Be tweeters.

Recovering the seats and other surfaces in Cloth may not be a bad idea. Are there other materials that would have the same acoustic qualities?

open cell foam? but not aesthetic.

To be honest, I have been tempted to get an old crappy car and do just that. Blow people away with a sub $1000 system.

Using all cheap *** components... But with an excellent install.

a SQ system in a C5 is fine until you start the car up and move down the road, then all bets are off.

mine sounds awesome untill you get the car moving.

Alpine has something called the "Road Eq" which sounds very intriguing.

here's an article on it's development:
http://www.alpinef1status.com/e/stor...-eq/index.html

Supposedly it uses an advanced noise cancellation technique. I'd love to test it but the PXI-H990 is quite expensive for a sound processor at ~$2000 when last I checked.

That's why I'm going to have about $500 in sound deadening when my car is finally complete.

Well the stuff I'm putting in now is 1lb / square foot. And I also put in mat, and liquid damping. So, who gives a **** about weight.

If you're doing the entire interior 1lb/sqft does add up...but not any more than riding with an average sized passenger. It's not like you're coating your car with liquid lead.

I think my car gained 50lbs with the addition of the dynamat and probably another 100 with the sub/box and Amp rack. It just so happens that the majority of this weight is over the rear wheels which gives me better traction on questionable road conditions.

if I was going to add ~1000 extra lbs between equipment and sound deadener, I probably wouldnt use a vette to start with. maybe an xlr since its much quieter to start with.

Well, for a great system, the Vette is a horrible place to start. It's all ...mitigation.

I'd think a tahoe or other boxey SUV would make for a much better acoustical enviornment.

Here is a rundown of the weight of my new system so far. I was wondering what it would weight knowing the C-5 has a 399 lb cpacity. Weights were taken just prior to install weighed on a scale.

57 lbs Dynamat 36sq feet X3 - throughout, doors iner and outer

52 lbs Dynapad X4 - throughout

12 lbs Dynaliner X1 - doors

20 lbs sub elemental designs 12 inch 2 ohm

16 lbs sub box Subthump

20 lbs elemental designs Nine.5 1000 watt amp 100X4, 600X1

21 lbs Boston Acoustics pro60 X 4

19 lbs AVIC Z2, Ipod, Blue Tooth, XM Traffic, wires

217 lbs total - 399 lbs = 182 lbs

Not considering removal of stock head unit and all Bose components, boy do I hope they add up to at least 175 lbs..
