New 2008...Factory Bose Problem?

Please excuse the rookie questions :o ...I don't usually mess with audio much and usually content with factory systems in my vehicles. Just got an 08 Coupe with the Bose system, my first Vette.
The Bose system seems to be acting strange, so I'm wondering if this is just the nature of the system of if something is screwed up. Ever since I brought it home, the sound system has a loud hiss in it, even with the volume turned up. You can even hear it on the interstate with the sound turned up in the background of the music. Most times the hiss even has somewhat of a pulsating sound to it. I thought it might be something in the auto volume, but it does this whether that is on or off. Equalizer settings don't seem to affect it either.
Overall, the sound quality (besides the hiss) isnt that bad...much better on a CD, since it seems XM sound quality is flatter than a pancake.
I've been a Sirius sub for several years now, and will be converting the Vette to Sirius soon.Anyways...just wondering if I might have a bad head-unit or something. I hate to have a dealer tear into it for nothing if it is just something I have to live with!
Could be the head, could be the amp... unfortunately it sounds like you're dealer-bound.And don't get your hopes too high re: Sirius sound quality.. it sounds different than XM but to my ear not necessarily better. Your description of XM as flat is very good, but to me Sirius sounds tinny & hissy. That said, I'm a Sirius subscriber, but it's for sports talk radio not music.
