Changing out HU with Nav/Onstar with DNX7100, Focal 6.5 K2P's in doors and 5.5's in rear. Also installing Kenwood Aceleron Amp 4 channel. Will I get the bass I need for Country and Classic Rock -- no Hip Hop or Rap. Do I need to fore go the 5.5 and do new JL box with 8" subs or how bout a power sub or tube in trunk? Great site and found much valuable info.

I ran without a sub for a long while and was always amazed with the amount of bass the Focal 6.5's can produce, but there is definitely something missing. I put the JL Stealthbox in my vert (pair of 8's) replacing the rears and it made a significant difference. I wouldn't be worried about the 5.5's in the rear, the soundstage in our cars is entirely focused up front because the cabins are so small. If you have the speakers already the you could try driving them off the stock amp(connect up the rear RCA's to whatever integration module you use) and use the rear channels on your amp to drive a sub. The JL Stealthbox is a pricey beast (like $500) but it's for sure the simplest solution if you want some hard-hitting bass.
Thanks for the info. How well did the Stealth boxes fit? Was the $500 including the subs and who did you get them from? Also with using the Kenwood unit exactly which harnesses do I need to get to keep chimes and everything else working.

The convertible stealthbox is very different from the coupe, but both come loaded with a sub(coupe gets a 10W3v2). JL is very tight on their distribution so it's hard to find Stealthboxes anywhere except their retailers. Their only *authorized* online retailer is Crutchfield, but I'm not sure if they sell the Stealthboxes. You'll probably be stuck buying brick & mortar.
For a car with Onstar you would use the Peripheral GMAH24B and the GMAHCM to integrate with the car and retain chimes. Here's a link to a COMPREHENSIVE write-up of a DNX7100 install:
Thanks for all the input. Crutchfield does not sell the box needed. Will check around or anyone out there wanting to unload one let me know. I found your install after I replied yesterday - nice install.
