Best Speakers For C5

PS. I'm stupid when it comes to car audio so dumb down to me please
Please read the C5 FAQ for information regarding the stock stereo system.
If you have the Bose system, it's possible that your front speakers are not working properly if you have NO bass whatsoever. Each of the front speakers have a 8" bass driver with it's own amplifier, and a 3.5 inch "twiddler" that is driven from the HU. If either of the amps/bass drivers have failed, it would sound "tinny" and have ZERO bass. (Your rear speakers have no bass sent to them, as the fronts were designed to provide all the bass.)
If that is the case, you may need to replace your Bose speaker pods or have them repaired. Expect to pay about $100 or so each, maybe more. Replacing them with ones that have been pulled are probably a better option.
You can replace the front and rear speakers with component sets, but you will end up buying an adapter to make it work ($100) with the stock HU and your rear speakers STILL won't produce bass. Your stock HU won't be able to put out the power to get much bass out of the front speakers... so later you would be adding an amp... then sound deadening... then a sub... then probably a new HU.
Bottom line is this: If you aren't willing to spend more than $500 on your system, and you don't want to add a sub, then you probably aren't going to get what you are looking for... unless you get some used equipment or some really good deals.

You aren't going to get any bass out of the rear without reworking the enclosure (lots of work.) So I would skip rear speakers -
1) To increase budget for front speakers.
2) To reduce the amount of midrange/tweet compared to the bass you get out of the front speakers.
You can get better sounding bass up front easily... As much? Well, you are going from an 8" speaker to a 6.5" speaker so you lose a lot of cone area right there.
With a decent comp set + amp, you will "know" that there is bass, but it will be pretty quiet. A lot of bass in rap music will be under the crossover point and you won't hear it at all.
I dont know how "into sq" you are. You might be able to get away with 6x9 coax up front... They dont sound as good as 6.5 comp sets, but will definitely have a lot more bass.
edit: woops... out of your price range
