I installed my Sirius Starmate 4 in my C6 this weekend. The Starmate 4 has a dock that the radio plugs into. I considered several options but the main consideration was clearance for the manual shifter. When it came down to it the only good choice was the ash tray opening. I popped out the door and found that the dock just about fit. Then I removed the center console trim and did a bit of minor cutting on the ash tray module and mounted the dock to it. Since I have the base single-CD head unit there isn't any way to do a direct audio input, so I opted for the Sirius direct FM input that goes inline with the FM antenna cable.

The location works pretty well. The display is blocked when the shifter is in 5th gear, but when cruising in 6th it is easily viewed.

I first tried just putting the antenna on the frame inside the rear fascia. That placed it kind of low. My sat reception was pretty marginal there. So I made a little shelf out of some sheet metal and a couple of pieces of 1x2. A couple of pieces of double sided adhesive tape on each of the 1x2s and I stuck it right to the bottom of the fascia above the passenger side tail lights. Reception is terrific with it mounted there.

I used an add-a-circuit to get power from the passenger footwell fuse block. I had a lot of trouble finding a circuit that wasn't always hot. I tried the driver's seat heater fuse (I don't have heated seats) but that was always hot. I ended up using the windshield wiper/washer fuse. That one turns off when the ignition is off. The only downside is that it doesn't run in RAP mode, but that's not a big deal.
